The lack of support in perinatal care can have devastating outcomes. Mothers Matter, a lobbying group, is advocating for political commitments that take action to improve every New Zealand child’s first 1,000 days.
“We must put the mother back into the centre of care. If we look after mothers, their babies and families also thrive, paying dividends for future generations” says founder Chloe Wright.
“If it’s good for women, its good for everyone.”
This is why focusing on the wellbeing of our mothers must be a priority this election.
